The next three days students will be pulled from various design teams to complete a variety of tasks. There will be a team of students heading down to the thrift store to gather materials, once the design team working on a list of materials produces an approved list we will send students. Everyone else worked on completing their timeline or sketch notes assignment.

Below are the following tasks and assigned design teams for them:
- Design Sheet (Design Team #1) I need a complete draft drawn (nicely) for both mind and your proposals. I need a sketched drawing in details of our room that we are designed so I have a comparison of our final product and ideas. We have revised and added along the way. We are also need this sheet for when we begin to write things on the wall.
- Bricks x2 (Design Team #2, #4) Last night I went over to EAs to gather some bricks from her yard, so luckily, we have found 50 more bricks for our assignment. So we need to unload those from the car, we are going to unload these items from her truck. We are going to stack them inside the ab room to ensure they are not distracting and in the way.
- Paper/Materials (Design Team #6) We need to finish putting up the paper in the ab ed room before we can move onto continuing our project. There is only one wall left and I don’t suspect this should take longer than one block.
- Plans for Walls (Design Team #3) I need this design group to clearly type up what elements are going onto each wall, so that whoever ends up writing this information on the wall will have all the material available to them. You are going to have to work with the Design Team #1 to complete this task.
- Materials (Design Team #5) After the break, and Design Team #1 and #3 have completed the initial plan, the group of you are going to walk down with Ms. Soles to the thrift store to see if you can locate some

Today we looked at a variety of survivor stories in order to gather more information and symbols for our display. In the second part of the period we gathered in our "design teams" to begin creating our space. We will be working on this project all week.
Nov 4 - 8Reminder you will be spending the week in English and not come to Socials on day 2. Enjoy your week with Mrs. Macleod and we will see you all next week starting November 12th.

Oct 31, 2019Today we debriefed from our field trip. We generated a list and visualized some symbols that we could incorporate in our designed space. After I introduced the concept of sketch notes and we watched clips from Where Are the Children. We topped off our spooky day with some yummy pumpkin tarts!

Oct 22, 2019Today in class the final few interims went home. This is our only class this week so we did LOTS! We reviewed and recapped the election! We took a few short notes on residential school history and discussed as a class some key takeaways. I typed out our KWL chart we discussed on Friday and we added a few key questions we still had about residential schools to ask on our field trip Tuesday. Finally, we spent the second block of our double analyzing different primary sources of residential schools to further our understanding.

We introduced our special project on creating an FNMI Designed Space. We are going to be focusing on the affects that Residential Schools had on the children who attended them. Our unit will be comprised of creating a designed space where visitors will enter a room that makes them 'feel' emotions related to Residential Schools. This project is a unique opportunity to collaborate and express - as a class - our knowledge in an artistic way. Today we brainstormed how empathy can play a crucial role in understanding the past.
